Business Systems Manager

Joined in: 2003

The day job: I joined the Group through a graduate recruitment scheme; initially working in the Customer Services team at L&H Homes dealing with lettings before later joining the Income Team. I worked for L&H Homes for 8 years before moving to the Longhurst Group ICT department.  I currently manage the teams that support the day to day running of our ICT systems and carry out projects to develop these systems.

The best thing about working here: I have been given the opportunity to see my career develop and realise my potential.  My managers have always been very supportive and encouraged me to seize new experiences and training opportunities.

Corporate Property Services Manager

Joined in: 2001

The day job: I transferred to Spire Homes from East Northamptonshire Council after local residents voted ‘yes’ to a stock transfer. My role is to ensure repairs are carried out and the heating servicing is successfully delivered. This includes making sure the repairs team and our contractors maintain high performance levels and challenging for service improvement. The secret is regular meetings and data analysis, along with emails, emails, emails!

The best thing about working here: As well as really enjoying the work I do and the people I work with, Spire Homes is a flexible and caring company which certainly helps with a large, young family.

Customer Services Advisor

Joined in: 2007

The day job: I work in the Service Centre, we are most residents first point of contact with the organisation. We take calls about repairs and general enquires which can range from adaptations to neighbourhood disputes. I originally joined the company as an Administration Assistant and through hard work and training I was able to apply for the role I am in now.

The best thing about working here: I was given the opportunity to move within the organisation and was given the training needed to make it happen.

Development Officer

Joined in: 2013

The day job: I manage new housing development schemes from the initial design stage right up until they are handed over to tenants. I started as a Graduate Development Officer after completing my post-graduate in Urban Planning. This has been a fantastic opportunity as I’ve been able to get involved in different aspects of the business and work with people from different disciplines to get an insight to how all the aspects of housing development combine.

The best thing about working here: I’ve attended a number of training courses as well as seminars and conferences to further my knowledge. The company has given immense support and allowed me to progress to become a Development Officer in such a short period of time.

Digital Media Executive

Joined in: 2009

The day job: I joined the marketing and communications team as a part-time marketing assistant after I graduated. After a few months I was promoted to Account Executive - producing newsletters, PR and web content for one of our member companies. I really enjoyed the digital projects and began to get involved in more technical responsibilities. Now I specialise in everything digital, from improving website functionality to researching the latest social media trends.

The best thing about working here: The pension scheme is really good - retirement is still a long way off, but as I’m about to get married it’s good to know that I have a plan for the future.

Support Worker

Joined in: 1999

The day job: I support adults living with learning and physical disabilities, and help them go about their daily life. There’s no such thing as a typical day in care as you just have to listen to the service users and respond to what’s happening on the day. The best bit of my day job is seeing how the small things can make people so happy.

The best thing about working here: You feel very supported and there are a wide range of shifts available so you can work around the rest of your life.

Money Advisor

Joined in: 2011

The day job: I started at Friendship as an income officer, it was a job share initially but within 5 months I had the opportunity to increase my hours to full time.  In 2013 I applied for a secondment to become a Money Advisor. I now support customers either by visiting them at home, office or over the telephone to offer advice on how to deal with benefit or money issues.

The best thing about working here: The flexible working gives me a work/life balance, and I feel my skills and experience are acknowledged. I enjoy coming to work and have met some wonderful people - colleagues and customers.

Customer Engagement Team Manager

Joined in: 2014

The day job: I wanted a role that would fuel my enthusiasm for helping others and my current position does just that.  I am able to motivate a team to work together to improve the lives of tenants and the communities where they live. I enjoy working with those from all walks of life and supporting them through funding, training and tenant scrutiny.

The best thing about working here: Thanks to Spire Homes’ volunteering policy, I recently volunteered to set up a forest school at a local nursery. It was very rewarding to see the difference we could make through a day’s team work.
