Aids and adaptations in your home
Longhurst Group provides an aids and adaptations service which can support our customers if you – or a member of your household – suffer from chronic issues because of mobility, dexterity, mental health or any ailment affecting independence.
We have a team of independent living assessors who can carry out a holistic person-centred assessment in your home to assess for minor works and this team can be mobilised much more quickly than if the customer sought an occupational therapy appointment through their local authority.
Following an assessment and receipt of the referral from the independent living assessors, minor aids and adaptations can be organised and funded by Longhurst Group through the accessibility project using our own contractors.
For any major works, a disabled facilities grant (DFG) would need to be sought. To do this, an occupational therapist would need to assess you and provide the local authority with their recommendation. A financial test of resources would then also be undertaken with the local authority.
We’ll still be able to assist and are still involved with the DFG process, providing permission, reviewing plans and monitoring the case throughout, although the local authority is responsible for DFG cases.
Together with continued assistance and an aligned approach toward improving lives, our project looks to work closely with all teams within the Group. From housing care and support, repairs and our planned works teams.
