Longhurst Group revealed as headline sponsor of Housing Cup 2019

Longhurst Group is delighted to be the headline sponsor of the Chartered Institute of Housing’s Housing Cup 2019.

The rounders tournament, with the grand final being held in Birmingham in September, is raising money for Women’s Aid.

Our sponsorship of the tournament is part of our involvement in the CIH’s Make a Stand campaign, which aims to help tackle abuse in our communities.

We have joined around 200 other housing associations in signing up to the campaign and are committed to training colleagues to ensure the help and support is available for customers and colleagues who may be suffering domestic abuse.

“It is vital that we play our part in continuing to raise awareness of domestic abuse and to ensure that we are providing services for our customers and colleagues to tap into should they need to.

Craig Taylor, Director of Housing

Craig Taylor, Director of Housing, said: “We are proud that the Group is the headline sponsor of the Housing Cup 2019.

“It is yet another way of demonstrating our commitment to supporting those who are, unfortunately, victims of domestic abuse.

“Anything that can be done to raise awareness of the topic, or raise funds for the organisations who help support victims, is important and that is why we as a Group wanted to be involved.

“As a large housing association, we are in a good position to be able to provide support and assistance to people who might need that help.

“It is vital that we play our part in continuing to raise awareness of domestic abuse and to ensure that we are providing services for our customers and colleagues to tap into should they need to.

“I would like to wish all teams taking part in the final the very best of luck, but most importantly, I’d like to thank them for taking part in an event that is raising vital funds and awareness of an important subject.”

The four commitments that we have agreed to as part of the campaign are:

  • To put in place and embed a policy to support residents who are experiencing domestic abuse.
  • To make information about national and local domestic abuse support services available on our website and in other places which are easily accessible to residents and staff.
  • To put in place a HR policy and procedure on domestic abuse, or to incorporate this into an existing policy, to support members of staff who are experiencing domestic abuse.
  • Appoint a champion in our organisation to own the activity we are doing to support people experiencing domestic abuse.
