Longhurst Group get the keys to more affordable homes in Lincoln
21 July 2017
LONGHURST Group has been given the keys to the final two affordable homes at a new development in Lincoln.
Lincolnshire housebuilder Chestnut Homes recently handed over two shared ownership bungalows at its LN6 development to Longhurst & Havelok (L&H) Homes, which is part of Longhurst Group.
Under a planning agreement, 20 per cent of the homes at the scheme, off Westbrooke Road, have been made available as affordable housing within LN6 phase one – equivalent to 11 properties.
Seven of these homes – four two-bedroom bungalows and three two-bedroom houses – will be made available for shared ownership, while four one-bedroom apartments will be allocated for intermediate rent.
Chestnut Homes has built 52 new homes in total within phase one at LN6.
Mel Baker, Project Manager for Development Sales at Longhurst Group, said: “These fantastic new properties will provide high-quality affordable homes for residents. As well as helping people onto the property ladder via shared ownership, four homes will be available for affordable rent.
“Offering these options ensures that home ownership and renting a property is more achievable for more people. We’re pleased to be working with Chestnut Homes to help meet the need for new affordable homes in Lincoln, and we look forward to welcoming the new residents to their homes.”
David Newton, Managing Director of Chestnut Homes, added: “The demand for housing and shortage of supply nationally is well documented, and as a responsible housebuilder, we are proud to be helping to address this need.
“We would like to extend a warm welcome to the new residents who move into these affordable homes at LN6, and we wish them many happy years in their new homes.”
Construction work is now underway on the second phase of homes at LN6, where Chestnut Homes will build a further 27 homes.
