What not to flush
Flushing the wrong items down the toilet can block your pipes, damage sewer systems and harm the environment.
Even “flushable” wipes shouldn’t be flushed - many contain plastic and don’t break down.
Remember: only flush the 3 Ps – pee, poo and paper!
And never flush these items:
- Cotton buds
- Baby, facial, ‘flushable’ toilet wipes and kitchen wipes
- Kitchen roll
- Facial cleansing pads
- Cotton wool or balls
- Used toilet roll tubes
- Nappies
- Tampons and applicators
- Sanitary towels
- Medication
- Plasters
- Cigarettes
