Customers move into new accessible bungalows - just in time for Christmas!

Longhurst Group customers are looking forward to Christmas in their new homes after the handover of three fully-accessible bungalows in Grimsby.

We partnered with North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) and developer Hammond Homes to provide three, fully-accessible bungalows for families that require specialist housing.

The project was delivered thanks to enabling grants from NELC and through our Strategic Partnership with Homes England, which also provided funding.

The three-bedroom homes were allocated to households in the most need through the Home Choice Lincs housing register, with customers moving in last month.

Nick Worboys, Longhurst Group’s Director of Development and Sales, said: “We are delighted to have worked with North East Lincolnshire Council to deliver these fantastic, fully-accessible wheelchair-friendly bungalows.

“At Longhurst Group, our vision is to improve the lives of our customers and these bungalows will do exactly that for the families who now call them home.

“This is another fantastic example of how we work in partnership with local authorities to address local need by providing the homes that people want, in the areas where they are most needed.

"We'd like to with those customers who've just moved in a very Merry Christmas and pass on our best wishes for 2020 in their new home."

Deputy Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council and Portfolio Holder for Housing, Regeneration and Skills, added: “Good quality housing should be available for everyone regardless of need and a wheelchair should not stop someone in this regard.

“We saw an opportunity to work with Longhurst Group to make three wheelchair-friendly properties available to people who really need them.

“Wheelchair friendly accommodation is limited, so adding these three properties to the local provision is very important and valuable.

“This is a great example of working with our partners in the social housing and development sectors to open up new housing provision.”
