New build wheelie bins

When we build new homes, waste collection is something we consider carefully.

Councils in the UK are responsible for collecting rubbish from homes within its area, however there’s no standard approach as to how this rubbish is stored before it’s collected.

Most councils in our areas use wheelie bins, but again there’s no standard approach as to who pays for the provision of these.

From 25 January 2024, we’ve decided that where charges are made by the council to provide wheelie bins, we’ll meet any costs and provide the bins to our new properties to ensure waste is stored correctly so it doesn’t become a health hazard.

This applies to all our residential properties, except market sale units unless they’re in a communal block with communal waste collection facilities.

The wheelie bins will be in place when the property is occupied. Customer will be advised of this when signing their tenancy or at legal completion.
