Sandra Haynes is full of praise for our colleagues working at Willow Court

A career in care and support is not only rewarding for you, but you can also make a huge impact on our customers and their families.

Sandra Haynes is full of praise for our colleagues working at Willow Court and credits their hard work and dedication to restoring her relationship with her mother.

Sandra’s mum moved into Willow Court after she was made to feel so welcome during her ‘try before you move’ stay at the multi-million pound extra care scheme.

Now, Sandra feels like she’s got her relationship with her mum back.

“The impact on Mum is incredible,” she said.

“My relationship with my mum since my dad died 25 years ago was so close. We did everything together.

“She has a very dry sense of humour and we were very close.

“However, during lockdown, she got very low and very lonely. She was forgetting things and getting very cross, especially with me.

She came in for the two taster nights and stayed over the weekend. When I went to collect her on the Monday, she said she didn't want to go back to the bungalow and wanted to stay at Willow Court!

“She seemed to take her anger out on me, so our relationship became quite strained.”

“Previously my brother had tried to get her into a nursing home, but mum wasn't ready for that as she was too independent.

“Mum said she’d like to have a look at Willow Court, but she wasn't going to be pushed into anything.

“She came in for the two taster nights and stayed over the weekend. When I went to collect her on the Monday, she said she didn't want to go back to the bungalow and wanted to stay at Willow Court!

“The colleagues that work there, all of them, from the top to the bottom, everyone speaks to one another, there’s no doom and gloom.

“It’s a pleasure to walk in Willow Court. It’s clean and bright, everything is smart and fresh, but the best thing is I know mum is being looked after and she’s safe.

“The impact Willow Court and the people that work there have had on mum is incredible.

“She’s changed so much and I’ve got my old mum back. Now she has a new lease of life, company, friends and comfort knowing someone is there if she needs anybody.”
