Weekly rent payments (general needs tenancies)

Through Voice, we asked customers for their preference around paying their rent over 52 weeks, 48 weeks or monthly.

  • Customers told us that weekly rent charges make budgeting easier. 
  • Many said weekly payments align better with how their income is received. 
  • Some customers were concerned about moving monthly payments, particularly around managing larger payments and budgeting.

What we’ve done

We reviewed customer feedback from the Voice survey to understand payment preferences and budgeting needs. Based on this, we made the decision to introduce 52 week tenancy agreements for all new general needs customers. 

What we're doing

We’re maintaining flexibility for mutual exchanges, giving customers the choice to stay on a 48 week tenancy if they prefer. 


What’s next

We’ll continue to gather customer views through Voice to shape future policy decisions. Customers will be kept informed about any further updates to tenancy agreements or rent payment structures.
