Is Lincoln a nice place to live?

Choosing where to buy a house is a massive decision. You need to consider transport options to get to work, whether there are good schools for the children you’re planning to have, as well as things such as crime rates and local amenities.

So, you might find yourself on Google searching ‘is Lincoln a nice place to live?’ or ‘Is there much to do in Lincoln?’

The answer is yes, Lincoln is one of those rare places that manages to blend history, charm, and modern living in the most amazing way.

Here are just a few things about Lincoln that makes it an ideal place to buy your first home

Whether you're a fan of picturesque walks, rich culture, or just a great cup of coffee, Lincoln has something special to offer.

You can take a stroll up Steep Hill and enjoy the array of independent shops and eateries

Steep Hill is a must-see. It’s lined with quirky independent shops, handmade fudge, artisan gifts, delicious cakes, and so much more. It’s full of character and charm, leading you straight into the Bailgate area, where more hidden gems await.

Pro tip: wear comfy shoes, take it slow, and maybe bring a bottle of water… it’s called Steep Hill for a reason!

Lincoln City

The city is full of history! Step back in time with a visit to Lincoln Cathedral and Castle

While you’re in the area, don’t miss the breathtaking Lincoln Cathedral and Castle. They were built almost 1000 years ago and the architecture alone is definitely worth the visit.

Did you know that University of Lincoln students get to graduate inside the Cathedral, now that’s a graduation to remember!

Relax in Lincoln Arboretum

Need a peaceful moment? Lincoln Arboretum is a lovely family park, which is completely free to enter and it’s the perfect place for a picnic or a relaxing dog walk. On sunny days, you might even catch some live music at the bandstand in the centre.

This is just one of many great walking spots in the city – some of our other favourites include: Lincoln’s South Common, which has a lovely herd of free roaming horses, and Whisby Nature Park which is just a short drive outside of the city centre.

Catch a football match at The LNER Stadium

If you’re a football fanatic, head to The LNER Stadium and cheer on Lincoln City Football Club, also know as the Imps. The atmosphere at The LNER Stadium on Cincil Bank is always exciting and it’s a great way to feel part of the local community.

Daisy Made Farm is a great day out for all the family

A short drive from the city takes you to Daisy Made Farm – another amazing free activity in Lincolnshire that both the children and adults will enjoy. At the farm, there are animals to meet, seasonal activities to enjoy, and some of the best ice cream we’ve ever tasted, though we’ll let you be the judge of that!

Shared Ownership is a great option to get onto the property ladder

If you can’t afford to buy a home outright on the open market, Shared Ownership can help you get a foot on the property ladder.

You may be asking – how does Shared Ownership work?

With Shared Ownership, you would buy share of your home - up to 75 percent - and you would pay an affordable rent to Amplius on the remainder. Deposits for Shared Ownership properties could start from as little as five percent. If you get a mortgage on your share of the property, your mortgage is based on the percentage share you own. So, it takes away that pressure of large mortgage repayments or needing to save for a high mortgage deposit – Shared Ownership makes getting on the property ladder easier and more accessible.

If this sounds like a good option for you, you can discover more about the scheme here.Â
