Customer Story - Insight Healthcare

A Longhurst Group customer says accessing mental health support through our Customer Wellbeing Hub has felt like a huge weight has been lifted from her shoulders.

The mum of three, from Rushden, has benefited from counselling sessions with our mental health partner Insight Healthcare while coming to terms with the breakdown of her relationship.

Her partner left her to look after her children and, in her own words, left her “in a bit of a state.”

Since, then, she’s received support from Tenancy Sustainment Officer Ozlem Icer who’s signposted her to several services, including Insight Healthcare.

She added: “Ozlem has been absolutely fantastic. My family fell apart when my partner left us and I found it quite hard to deal with.

With the two younger kids, he left us in a bit of a state with unfinished jobs in the house and the garden and with the stress and everything related to Coronavirus too, it was really hard.

“It was heart-breaking and everything was just happening at once. Until recently, I haven’t even been able to get up and get dressed, but now, I’ve been able to get up and get on with things. All the support has been helping.”

The customer has been talking with a counsellor from Insight Healthcare after being put in touch with them by Ozlem. She’s in contact with them once a week.

She said: “I’d been talking with Ozlem a lot with everything that was going on and she set up the counselling sessions with Insight Healthcare, which I found really helpful.

It’s been a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I can offload onto my counsellor with regards to what’s happening and also talk to her about the children and how they’re doing.

“It’s been a massive help and it’s made me feel a whole lot lighter.”

Our customer said she hadn’t been aware of the support on offer to customers before speaking with Ozlem, and encouraged other customers to speak up and reach out.

“I wasn’t aware of this support before,” she admitted.

“I’m hugely grateful for everything that’s been done for me and I can’t thank Ozlem enough – she’s been amazing.

I’d definitely encourage others to speak up and reach out – help is out there, so speak to those colleagues from Longhurst Group who can help and point you in the right direction.

“It can make a huge difference.”
