Staff members at Spire Homes have gone beyond expectations this
winter, making sure our tenants have the help they need during the
spell of bad weather.
Jean Warren, a support worker in Thrapston
completed her visits to tenants every day despite the weather. It
was too icy to use her car so she took to the footpaths, providing
shopping to tenants that could not get out. She even made visits
whilst on her holiday so colleagues did not have to drive in the
snow.
“It was a great feeling to visit tenants even
though the weather was really
bad." Jean continues "I knew it would be safer for
me to visit than my colleagues who would have had to risk the
drive. It was worth every step to see how pleased my tenants
were!”
One of our support workers in Brigstock and
Oundle, Eileen Cottingham also traveled by foot to ensure her visit
service was completed. When the weather was really bad, her husband
even helped by driving so she could call in on her tenants. She
helped those that are vulnerable by doing their shopping in Oundle,
and still managed to travel to Thrapston when a colleague was on
leave.
