do?
A: Longhurst Group is a leading independent provider of housing and
care services that offer people choice, quality and dignity. But
we’re much more than landlords and provide an extensive range of
services to help older and vulnerable people live as independently
as possible, either in their own homes or in supported housing.

them. Working across the Midlands and the East of England,
they support people from all walks of life, with the shared aim of

A: We employ over 1,000 employees.
Q: Where is Longhurst Group
based?
A: We have offices in Boston, Lincoln, Grimsby, Rushden, Rutland,
Nottingham and Birmingham.

Q: How do I apply for a job with
Longhurst Group?
A: You can apply for a job with us
in a number of different ways. Where you see the ‘Apply for
this job online’ button at the bottom of the job description you
can fill in and submit your application form online. Simply click
on the ‘Apply for this job online’ button and you
will be taken through all the steps needed to apply. You will
need to set up a new account if this is your first time to our Jobs
section and your details will be deleted from our database after 12
months.
Alternatively you can download and print off a
copy of the application form and return by post or contact us on
our 24 recruitment line on 01205 319684 and we will send you an
application pack which you will need to return by post or deliver
direct to our office.
Q: Is there an application
deadline?
A: Yes, all closing dates for applications are stated on the
Current Vacancies page. To be considered for the position you must
have submitted a completed application form by the date and time
stated on the advert.
Q: Can I apply for more than one
vacancy?
A. Yes, if you have the skills and experience stated in the job
description and person specification we would encourage you to do
so.
Q: Do you acknowledge receipt of my
application form?
A: If you do not receive a response
to your application, you can assume that your application has been
unsuccessful. It is the organisation’s policy not to confirm
receipt of application forms or non-selection for interview.
If you would like the receipt of your application form
acknowledging, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
Q: I have not signed the application
form as I have completed using the online form.
A: We
will ask you to sign the application form at interview stage (if
applicable).
Q: I have a disability will I need to
disclose details?
A: Under the Disability
Discrimination Act 1995, we are committed to The Positive
Disability Programme. If this applies to you, please
make us aware on the application form details of any special
requirements should you be invited to interview.
Q: I do not have a UK work permit, will you
still accept my application?
A: We only accept applications from people with a valid UK work
permit.
Q: Do you need to know if I have a
family member working for you?
A: We need to know
whether you or a close relative have / do work with us in the last
12 months. There is a section on the application form to
complete regarding this.
Interview Process
Q: How soon would I get to know if I
have made it to interview stage?
A: We endeavour to
give at least a week’s notice by letter you have been
shortlisted.
Q: I am unable to get time off work to
attend the interview between 9.00am to 5.00 pm, can I have attend
after working office hours?
A: Unfortunately, we are
unable to accommodate earlier or later times in the day.
Q: I can only attend either a morning
/ afternoon time if I have been invited to
interview?
A: Please identify on the application form
your time preference; we will do our best to accommodate.
Q: Do I need to bring any documents along to
interview?
A: Please bring evidence of the following with you for
verification:
- Any relevant professional qualifications, as
indicated on your application form.
- Either your UK or EU passport, or birth
certificate. If you hold a non EU passport, you will also
need to provide evidence (NI number, work permit or visa) stating
that you are able to work in the UK. This is to ensure that
the group is complying with the Asylum and Immigration Act
1996.
References and checks
Q: Do I need to provide
references?
A: Yes, you need to provide references for the last three years.
This information will only be used if you are successfully
appointed to the post. You must also include any periods of
vocational, temporary or work in the voluntary sector or any
periods of unemployment.
Q: What other information may I be asked to
provide?
A: If the role you are applying for requires a Criminal Records
Bureau Check (CRB) you will be asked to complete a Criminal
Convictions Disclosure at application stage. We require candidates
to complete the disclosure so that anything stated can be discussed
at interview if relevant. If you are offered the post you will then
need to complete a CRB form, should the nature of the post require
one.
Q: How long does a CRB check
take?
A: Typically up to 8 weeks. However, they can sometimes take longer
than this.
Using the Jobs site
Q: What is Register for Jobs?
A: If you do
not find a job vacancy you are interested in on our website you can
register for an email service which will alert you when a job in
your chosen field is advertised.
Tick the box to highlight which area of work
and geographical areas you are interested in and you will receive
updates as jobs become available. Each email alert you
receive gives you the option to unsubscribe from the messaging
system.
Q: I have forgotten my password, and
cannot access my account.
A: Just go to the ‘Apply Online’ page and enter your email address
under ‘Forgot your Password’. Click the ‘Submit’ button and
we will send you an email with your password.
Q: I am having difficulties using the
site
A: If you are having any problems using the site please contact our
