Tim is currently a Supported Housing Manager
for Longhurst & Havelok Homes (L&H) and manages the
supported housing teams at two locations in Grimsby which provide
housing related support and accommodation to tenants experiencing
homelessness or difficulties in maintaining a tenancy.
He has always been involved in care and
support since leaving College in 1988. Before coming to L&H in
2002 as a Housing Support Worker, Tim had worked with people of all
ages who had learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and were
sometimes in care. This work helped Tim develop a passion for
teamwork and respect for colleagues which has grown even more since
he joined Longhurst and even though Tim left school with no
qualifications, he has gone on to gain GCSEs, A-Levels and a
degree.
With Longhurst he has completed the ILM Line
Managers course, the CIH Level 3 Certificate in Supported Housing
and the LLL Oasis Programme, which Tim counts as the best thing
he’s ever done. “I’ve had absolutely loads of training. This
organisation has an excellent attitude towards training its staff;
our training co-ordinators are fantastic to deal with as well.”
Since he joined the company, Tim is extremely
proud of having been able to progress his career and being part of
the team when the Audit Commission’s inspection awarded Havelok
Homes a two star rating with promising prospects. He is very
pleased to say that Supported Housing is busier than ever and even
in the face of adversity, finds it very rewarding to be making such
a difference to people’s lives and working with excellent
colleagues.
