Development and regeneration
Developing new affordable homes and breathing
new life into existing communities are at the heart of Longhurst
Group’s success as a growing business.
After more than a decade in busines
(2011 marked our 10th anniversary), we are
proud of our proven track record of achievement as
an innovative and supportive partner across all areas of our work
- and development is no exception.
As joint lead partner in the Blue Skies Consortium – the
number one developer in the East Midlands and one of the country’s
top 10 development partnerships – our team has a breadth of
experience and expertise that is second to none. With 16 members
that collectively own almost 50,000 homes, the consortium has the
added advantages of an in-depth understanding of local needs, the
ability to achieve economies of scale and excellent relationships
with the Homes and Communities
Agency.
These qualities will be critically important
as we respond to the considerable challenges ahead. The prolonged
economic downturn, together with reducing public subsidy for
affordable housing following the Comprehensive Spending Review,
mean that we will need to find alternative sources of funding and
continue to innovate if we are to meet the growing demand for new
homes.
Whatever the future holds, our development
team remains determined to build on its significant achievements to
date. One of the keys will be something that Longhurst Group knows
plenty about – innovative partnerships.
For example, with a Group-wide
sustainability strategy in place, we launched a ground-breaking
collaboration with the University of
Lincoln to devise a tool to calculate the environmental
performance of different house design options. Read on find out
more about our award-winning approach to sustainability.
All of this means that Longhurst Group is a
positive partner that people can rely on to find new and better
ways of doing things.
