Help for older people
Longhurst Group members provide an extensive
range of services for older people to help them live as
independently as possible.
L&H Homes’ award-winning range of care includes
sheltered
housing across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, some
of which have
community alarms, plus two residential
care
homes in the Grimsby area that also offer
day care and short-term
respite care. For those with dementia, L&H runs a
purpose-built
dementia care home that is accredited by the
independent Care Quality
Commission.
Similarly, Spire Homes offers a range of
sheltered
housing to help older people live independently, as
well as 24-hour telephone support through lifeline services
available in
East Northamptonshire and Rutland.
For people over the age of 65 still living in
their own homes, L&H Homes provides a vital service known as
Havelok
at Home to deliver a range of care and support in
Grimsby and the surrounding areas.
Another Longhurst Group member, Friendship
Care and Housing, provides support
services for older people across the Midlands either
to help them live in their own homes or in supported housing. It
also runs a registered
care home in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, dedicated to
older people with an African Caribbean heritage.
In East Northamptonshire and Wellingborough,
Spire Homes runs Care and
Repair. This agency helps older homeowners and private
tenants remain in their own homes in comfort and security by
carrying out repairs and adaptations on their behalf.
Care and Repair offers a second service in
partnership with East Northamptonshire Council and the Borough
Council of Wellingborough to help elderly or vulnerable owner
occupiers and private tenants. The
handyperson service carries out very simple but
essential works at a reasonable cost.
Spire Homes also offers grants through its
Community Safety Fund to older people and other vulnerable
individuals in the East Northamptonshire area to help them improve
security at home.
For older people interested in buying their
own home, our Keystone Developments company specialises in
developing exceptionally high quality private retirement
properties. Find out more about the

L&H Homes has a range of retirement
leasehold properties across Nottinghamshire,
Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire, providing residents
with comfort, independence and peace of mind. L&H also offers
shared ownership properties to people aged 55 and over
in Lincolnshire.
Both these Group members belong to the Association of Retirement Housing
Managers, an organisation committed to high standards
and ethics in managing retirement housing and providing
services.
In addition to these services, Longhurst Group provides
help for vulnerable
people, help for
young people, respite care, and
advocacy and
advice.
